It's the last race of the Mini Midway season. Needless to say, we are more nervous that a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Our friends, the Stewarts, joined us once again. If you had told me two years ago that we would have made such good friends in the racing community, I would have told you that you were nuts. And not just the Stewart clan. This group I'm proud to call friends includes the Harbisons, Ryans, and Martins. (Martins, we miss you!)

Action packed does not even begin to describe how the evening panned out. There were plenty of surprises; some pleasant, some not so much. Those of you that were there know what I'm referring too. One incident was Tyler Todd's spectactular flip. He did a complete 360, never touching the ground untill he landed, wheels down. He shook off the landing and kept on with the race but to no avail. His front left wheel gave way and he was unable to finish the race. After a couple more cautions, Team E pulled to the front of the pack. Elizabeth S. (#6) maintained her position as lap leader for most of the race. The track this night really lended itself to her driving style. She hugged the bank and the moisture stayed for most of the race. I really did not think that El would get around her best friend. They both drove like veterens. These two young ladies showed true sportsmanship on the track. They drove lap after lap, never touching, let alone take each other out. They even worked well together as they approached lap traffic. E.S.(#6) going to the bottom and E.L.(#95) going to the top. They then parted like the Red Sea coming together again and pinching off the lap kart like a tube of toothpaste. I could not even believe my eyes as those kids went three wide on that narrow track!!! With only a lap to go, El pulled out all the stops and went with the "it's all or nothing" approach that she's famous for. She passed Elizabeth S. with only 1/4 track to the finish line. Talk about a close call. This night was sweet twice fold. Not only did our Elizabeth win her feature, she is now the points champ! Elizabeth, we are so very proud of you!

Goodness! Can you believe it's been almost a month since we raced at Midway? Well, you know what they say. Good things come to those who wait! And for Elizabeth that went double this weekend. She did what they said could not be done in an Outlaw Restricted kart. She won the race passing on the outside, with her RR on the cushion. This new driving style made Mike and I a nervous wreck. This was a big surprise to us because she loves to hug the bottom like an old catfish and really put her foot into it. Not only did she take the checkered flag, it was a money race to boot! So the lucky little lady walked away with $100! She wants to spend it, but it went into her savings acccount. On a down note, I was shaking so hard, I'm not sure if the video footage I shot will be Youtube worthy. Well have to see if I can salvage it.

Well, for a change of scenery, we headed out to Countyline Speedway this weekend. We miss racing here and wish it were closer to home. It was beautiful out! Cool and very fall like. The competition is getting very stiff at CLS. Many fast karts with skilled pilots! The race seemed a little drawn out. Too many cautions could be to blame. This must be what everyone is talking about on the forum. Seasoned drivers and rookies in the same class. Elizabeth still had a good night placing 3rd in a field of eleven karts.

Is that cool breezes of Autumn I feel or just a mirage? Not sure. One thing I do know it was another tough night for the Larson team. Elizabeth is very disappointed that she got 3rd tonight. And she did her very best. We once again had kart problems. This time a dragging brake caliper. She commented to Mike that the kart was sluggish. "Like it doesn't want to go like before." Out of the mouths of babes! She knew. Maybe her Crew Chief will listen next time.

Here are the results:

Whew! Is it hot in here? Nope, just the racing! It was another action packed night at the Midway. Although Elizabeth did not take the checkered flag, it was still a great night for racing. Team Stewart and Team Harbison came down to fill out the field a little more. It's always great to race with your peeps! Despite the technical difficulties we had with El's kart, she still managed to pull out a 2nd place win. After all was said and done, Mike discovered a locked up rear bearing. Maybe we will have better luck next time.
